200th anniversary celebration at Silverdale Holiday Centre ..

The Leeds Children’s Charity will be joining the 200th anniversary celebrations of Silverdale during the weekend 1st and 2nd October 2011.  The charity was founded in 1904 and its history is linked to Silverdale village since over 58,000 disadvantaged children have benefited from a holiday in the Arnside and Silverdale area since that time.

The charity wholly owns and maintains a purpose-built property at Silverdale where over 350 children each year enjoy a holiday by the sea, and the residents of Silverdale have taken the children to their hearts.  During the Open Weekend, there will be an exhibition of photographs showing the work of the charity over its 107 years’ existence.  The oldest photograph being taken on the first day of the opening of the holiday centre in 1904.
